Transformative Couples Therapy® for Couples

Relationships can become stuck in recurring patterns of conflict, distance or disconnection that are difficult to change. The TCT Institute offers clear ways to learn about Transformative Couples Therapy® (TCT), find a therapist and explore the current research study.

When Relationships Feel Stuck

Couples may seek help when conversations repeat without resolution, closeness feels harder to reach or familiar reactions leave both partners feeling disconnected. TCT offers a structured way of attending to what happens between partners without making diagnostic claims or promising a particular outcome.

A Different Way of Working Together

Transformative Couples Therapy® is an attachment-based, body-oriented approach informed by affective neuroscience and the Seven Channels of Experience™. The approach pays attention to emotion, movement, sensation, thought, imagery and other aspects of present experience as couples work with patterns of defense, reactivity and disconnection.

Connection, Safety and Attunement

TCT emphasizes the moment-to-moment experience between partners. Therapists work with couples to notice familiar patterns and explore experiences of safety, attunement and connection. The process is collaborative, and no result is guaranteed.
